App package

The App package module of the admin console consists of functionalities such as display the list of available app packages, create package, edit package details, add app to package, remove app from package, assign package to group, delete package and clone package.


Display the available app packages


1. Click on the Application > App package icon on the left menu.


2. The available app packages will be displayed as shown below with details like Package name, App count, Type, Description and list of app icons. 



3. The Package List screen contains the following functionalities:

  • Create package – a new package can be created.
  • Context Menu – A context menu will be displayed which has sub-menus like edit package name, view package details, delete package, assign package to group and clone package.
  • Pagination – If the no. of packages is large and exceeds the page, pagination will appear at the bottom using which previous / Next package list can be viewed.
  • Items per page can be set by selecting the desired no. from the dropdown at the bottom. By default, the number of rows per page is set as 10.


Create package

A new app package can be created using the steps given below.


1. Click on the Create package icon on the top of the Package List screen.


2. Create package pop up screen will be displayed as shown below.


3. Enter values for the below mentioned fields:

  • Package Name – Name of the new package to be created (Mandatory)
  • Description – A brief description about the new package (Optional)

4. After entering the values for the above fields, Click the Submit button.

 

5. A new package will be created and displayed in the package List screen.


Edit package details

The details of an individual package can be edited using the Edit package screen.

 

1. From the List view screen, click on the two vertical dots at the end of the package row.

 

2. A context menu will be displayed, select the Edit details option.


3. The existing details of the selected package will be displayed as shown below.



4. Edit the package details like Package name, Description and click the Submit button. The edited values will be updated for the selected package.


View package details

The details of an individual package can be viewed in the View package details screen using the steps given below.


1. From the Package List screen, click on the down arrow at the bottom right side of the package row.

 

2. The package details screen with the list of apps in the package as shown below will be displayed.



3. The list of apps with details like App name, Identifier, App type, Platform and Source will be displayed.


4. For each of the apps in the list, click on the two vertical dots which contains functionalities like View app details, Manage permission, Manage config, Remove as shown in the screen below.



Add app to package

One or more apps can be added to the package using the steps given below.


1. Click the ‘+Add app’ icon which appears at the end of the package list screen.


2. Add application popup screen will be displayed as shown in the screen below.



3. Select an app from the ‘Select app’ dropdown. Select the mandatory settings like Installation type, Auto update mode and App permission from the corresponding dropdowns of the selected app.


4. Click on the Add button. The selected app will be added in the ‘Android apps’ section as shown below.


5. Repeat the same steps 3 & 4 for adding the required list of apps.


6. Click the Submit button, the selected apps will be assigned to the package with a success toast message.


7. The newly added apps will be displayed in the apps catalog list data table.


Remove app from package

An app can be removed from a package using the steps given below.


1. In the View package details screen, the list of apps assigned to the package will display in the data table. 


2. Click on the two vertical dots at the end of the app row. 


3. Select the Remove option from the context menu as shown below.

 


4. A confirmation popup will be displayed as shown below asking if the app has to be removed from the package. 

5. When the Yes button is clicked, the app will be removed from the package and also removed from the assigned groups/devices. 



Delete Package

An existing package can be deleted using the steps given below.


1. From the Package List view screen, click on the two vertical dots at the end of the package row.

 

2. A context menu will be displayed, select the Delete option as shown below.



3. Please note that the Delete menu option will be displayed only if no apps/groups are assigned to the package.


4. A confirmation message will be displayed as shown below.


5. Click the Yes button, the selected package will be deleted.



Assign package to group

The selected package can be assigned to one/more groups using the steps given below.


1. From the Package List view screen, click on the two vertical dots at the end of the package row.

 

2. A context menu will be displayed, select the 'Assign to group' option.


3. Assign group popup screen will be displayed as shown in the screen below. 



4. Select one or more groups from the list and click the Assign button.


5. After a confirmation message, the selected package will be assigned to the groups.


Clone the app package

The selected package can be cloned and save as a new package using the steps given below.


1. From the Package List view screen, click on the two vertical dots at the end of the package row.

 

2. A context menu will be displayed, select the Clone option.


3. Clone package popup screen will be displayed as shown in the screen below.



4. A new package name can be entered and by clicking the Submit button, a new package will be created with the apps of the selected package and listed in the package list screen.
