App catalog

The App catalog module of the admin console consists of functionalities such as display the list of available apps, add play store app, add enterprise app, view details of an app, edit details of an app, add new version/variant of an app,  assign app to package/device and delete an app.


Display the available apps

1. Click on the Application > App catalog icon on the left menu.


2. The available apps in App catalog will be displayed in table view format as shown below with details like App name, Identifier, Source, Platform, App type, Added date.



3. The Application List screen contains the following functionalities:

  • Add app – a new enterprise/play store app can be added.
  • Context Menu – A context menu will be displayed which has sub-menus like View app details, Edit app, Delete app, Add new version, Assign app to package / device / group.
  • Column chooser - The list of columns to appear in the table view can be enabled/disabled.
  • Pagination – If the no. of apps is large and exceeds the page, pagination will appear at the bottom using which previous/next app list can be viewed.
  • Items per page can be set by selecting the desired no. from the dropdown at the bottom. By default, the number of rows per page is set as 10.


Add Enterprise app

A new Enterprise app can be added using the steps given below.


1. Click on the Add app icon on the top of the App List screen.


2. Add new application pop up screen with the Enterprise / Playstore options will be displayed as shown below.


3. Select the Enterprise app option by clicking the radio button.


4. Enter values for the below mentioned fields:

  • App type – Android option by default will be selected (Mandatory)
  • Application name – Name of the Enterprise application to be added (Mandatory)
  • Application icon – Icon of the application to be added (Optional)
  • Service name – Service name of the application to be added (Mandatory)
  • Version – Version of the application to be added (Mandatory)
  • Upload apk file – Source apk file of the application to be added (Mandatory)


5. After entering the values for the above fields, Click the Submit button.


6. A new Enterprise app will be added and displayed in the App List screen.


Add Playstore app

A new Playstore app can be added using the steps given below.


1. Click on the Add app icon on the top of the App List screen.


2. Add new application pop up screen will be displayed. Select the Playstore option by clicking the radio button.


3. The Google Play store I-Frame as shown in the screen below will be displayed.


4. Search/select the required application from the list and click on the application name. The next screen as shown below will be displayed.


5. Click on the Approve button, the permission approval screen as shown below will be displayed. 


6. Click on the Approve button. The Approval settings screen as shown below will be displayed. 


7. Select the option for Approval settings and click Done button. 


8. The selected Play store app will be added to the App catalog with a success toast message and will display in the App catalog list screen. 

 

 

Edit Enterprise app details

The details of an individual Enterprise app can be edited using the steps given below.


1. From the List view screen, click on the three vertical dots at the end of the Enterprise app row.

 

2. A context menu will be displayed from which the 'Edit' option can be selected.


3. The existing details of the selected enterprise app will be displayed as shown in the screen below.


4. Edit the Enterprise app details and click the Submit button. The edited values will be updated for the selected app.


View Enterprise app details

The details of an individual enterprise app can be viewed using the steps given below.


1. From the App List view screen, click on the three vertical dots at the end of the enterprise app row. 


2. A context menu will be displayed from which the 'View details' option can be selected as shown below.


3. The details of the selected enterprise app will be displayed in a popup screen as shown below.


4. The top portion of the screen will display the app details like Application name, Identifier, Platform, App upload type and versions of the app.


5. Selecting a version in the dropdown on the top will display the corresponding details at the bottom like Assigned groups, App packages and Kiosks to which the Enterprise app is assigned.


View Playstore app details

The details of an individual Playstore application can be viewed using the steps given below.


1. From the App List view screen, click on the two vertical dots at the end of the Playstore app row. 


2. A context menu will be displayed from which the 'View details' option can be selected.


3. The details of the selected Playstore app will be displayed in a popup screen as shown below. 

 

4. The top portion of the screen will display the Playstore app details like Application name, Identifier, Platform, App upload type and version of the app.


5. The bottom portion of the screen will display the list of Assigned group, package and kiosk to which the selected Playstore app is assigned.


Delete App

An existing Enterprise/Playstore app can be deleted using the steps given below.


1. From the List view screen, click on the three vertical dots at the end of the app row.

 

2. A context menu will be displayed, select the Delete option.


3. A confirmation message along with the warning on the impact of deleting the app will be displayed as shown below.


4. Click the Continue button, the selected app will be deleted.


Add new Enterprise app version

New versions of an individual enterprise app can be added using the steps given below.

 

1. From the List view screen, click on the two vertical dots at the end of the enterprise app row.

 

2. A context menu will be displayed, select the 'Add new version' option.


3. Add new version popup screen will be displayed as shown in the screen below.


4. Enter the new version and upload the corresponding apk file and click the Submit button.


5. A new version will be added to the selected enterprise app.


Assign app to package

Selected apps can be assigned to one or more packages by following the below steps.


1. From the App catalog screen, click on the two vertical dots at the end of the app row.

 

2. A context menu will be displayed, select the 'Assign to package' option. 


3. App properties screen will be displayed as shown below. 


4. Update the parameters in the dropdowns if required and click Expand all link for optional Additional information details. Click Continue button.


5. Assign to package screen will be displayed as shown below.


6. Select one or more packages and click the Submit button.


7. The app will be assigned to the selected packages.


Assign app to device

Selected app can be assigned to a device by following the below steps.


1. From the App List view screen, click on the three vertical dots at the end of the app row.

 

2. A context menu will be displayed, select the 'Assign to device' option. 


3. App properties screen will be displayed as shown below.  



4. Update the parameters in the dropdowns if required and click Expand all link for optional Additional information details. Click Continue button.


5. Assign to device screen will be displayed as shown below.


6. Select a device from the list and click the Submit button.


7. The app will be installed to the selected device.


Assign app to group

Selected app can be assigned to a group by following the below steps.


1. From the App List view screen, click on the three vertical dots at the end of the app row.

 

2. A context menu will be displayed, select the 'Assign to group' option. 


3. App properties screen will be displayed as shown below.  


 

4. Update the parameters in the dropdowns if required and click Expand all link for optional Additional information details. Click Continue button.


5. Assign to group screen will be displayed as shown below.


6. Select a group from the list and click the Assign button.


7. The app will be installed to the devices in the selected group.
