Geofence

The Geofence module of the admin console consists of functionalities such as - display the list of geofences in list view, card view & map view, add new geofence, edit geofence, view geofence details, delete geofence and breach history.


Geofence - Views


1. Click on the Maps icon on the left menu.


2. Click on the Geofence tab in the screen.


3. By default, the Card view of the geofences will be displayed as shown in the screen below.


4. Click on the List view button on the top. List view of the geofences will be displayed as shown in the screen below.



5. Click on the Map view button on the top. Map view of the geofences will be displayed as shown in the screen below.    


6. In the Map view button screen, when the desired geofence is selected in the dropdown, the corresponding map view will be displayed.



Add new geofence


A new geofence can be added using the steps given below.


1. Click on the Add new geofence icon on the top of the Geofence screen.


2. Add geofence screen will be displayed as shown below.



3. Enter values for the below mentioned fields:


• Geofence name – Name of the new geofence to be created (Mandatory)

• Location – Location of the new geofence to be created (Mandatory)

• Latitude & Longitude – Alternate to location, Latitude & Longitude values of the location can be entered (Optional)

• Set radius – Set the radius of the geolocation (Mandatory)

• Target type – Select the group/device for which the geofence is set (Mandatory)

• Device actions – Actions to be performed on the device if it breach the geofence (Optional)

  • Allow notification - whether to notify the geofence breach in console or email or both (Optional)
  • Email ids – Email ids to which the alert will be sent (up to 5 email ids) (Mandatory if email notification option is selected)
  • Frequency – Frequency at which the email needs to be sent (Optional)


4. After entering the values for the above fields, Click the Submit button.


5. A new geofence will be created and displayed in the geofence views.


Edit Geofence


The details of an individual geofence can be edited using the Edit geofence screen.

 

1. From the List view/Card view screen, click on the three vertical dots.


2. A context menu will be displayed, select the Edit option.


3. The existing details of the selected geofence will be displayed as shown below.

 


4. Edit the geofence details like Geofence name, location, latitude & longitude, radius, target type, notifications and device actions and click the Submit button. The edited values will be updated for the selected geofence.


View geofence details


The details of an individual geofence can be viewed in the View geofence details screen using the steps given below.


1. From the Geofence List view/Card view screen, click on the three vertical dots.


2. A context menu will be displayed from which the View details option can be selected.


3. The geofence details screen as shown below will be displayed.



4. The left portion of the screen will display details of the selected geofence like Geofence name, location, latitude & longitude, radius, target type, notifications and device actions in read-only format.


5. The right portion of the screen will display the geofence in the map format with defined location and radius values.



Delete Geofence


An existing geofence can be deleted using the steps given below.


1. From the Geofence List view/Card view screen, click on the three vertical dots at the end of the geofence row.


2. A context menu will be displayed, select the Delete option.


3. A confirmation message will be displayed as shown below.


4. Click the Continue button, the selected geofence will be deleted.




Geofence breach history details


The breach history details of an individual geofence can be viewed in the Breach history details screen using the steps given below.


1. From the Geofence List view/Card view screen, click on the three vertical dots at the end of the geofence row.


2. A context menu will be displayed from which the Breach history option can be selected.


3. The Breach history details screen as shown below will be displayed.



4. The top portion of the screen will display details of the selected geofence like Geofence name, Radius, Latitude and Longitude.


5. The bottom portion of the screen will display the Geofence breach history details which displays the list of breaches triggered on the target device/group.


Geofence – Action on device


When the devices in a geofence breaches the radius of the geofence, various actions can be performed on the devices as shown in the screen below.



1. When “No action” option is selected in the Device actions dropdown field, there will not be any actions performed on the devices but the record will be entered in the breach history.


2. When “Lock” option is selected in the Device actions dropdown field, the devices which breach the geofence will be locked and a record will be entered in the breach history.


3. When “Alarm” option is selected in the Device actions dropdown field, an alarm will start in the devices which breach the geofence and a record will be entered in the breach history. 


4. When “Set password” option is selected in the Device actions dropdown field, the admin can set the password for the devices which breach the geofence, they will be locked and asked for the password to unlock. A record will be entered in the breach history.
