Policy

The Policy module of the admin console consists of functionalities such as display the list of available policies, create policy, view/edit policy details, assign policy to group, clone policy and delete policy.


Display the available policies

1. Click on the Compliance > Policies icon on the left menu.


2. The available policies will be displayed in table view format as shown below with details like Policy name, Description, Group count, Created on, Updated on, Created by and Updated by.


3. The Policy List screen contains the following functionalities:

  • Create policy – a new policy can be created.
  • Export - the available policy details can be exported as an Excel file. 
  • Context Menu – A context menu will be displayed which has sub-menus like View/Edit policy details, Assign policy to group, Clone policy and Delete policy.
  • Column chooser - The list of columns to appear in the table view can be enabled/disabled.
  • Pagination – If the no. of policies is large and exceeds the page, pagination will appear at the bottom using which previous/Next policy list can be viewed.
  • Items per page can be set by selecting the desired no. from the dropdown at the bottom. By default, the number of rows per page is set as 10.


Create policy

A new policy can be created using the steps given below.


1. Click on the Create policy icon on the top of the Policy List screen.


2. Create policy screen will be displayed as shown below.


3. The following fields will be displayed for the creation of a new android policy set.

  • Policy name – Name of the new policy to be created (Mandatory)
  • Policy description – A brief description about the new policy (Optional)


4. There are different sets of android policies categorized under various categories – Device, System, Security, Connectivity, OS update, App, Secure browser, Configure and OEM.


5. Each section in turn will contain multiple category of policies. For example, Device section will contain categories like Device settings and Profile.


6. Each category contains various policies in the form of toggle buttons and dropdowns with the default values set as shown in the screen above.


7. The user can set values for each of the policies by setting on/off values in the toggle buttons or by selecting values in the dropdowns in each of the sections.


8. After entering/selecting the values for the Android policies, click the Windows tab.


9. Windows policy screen will be loaded and shown below.


10. After entering/selecting the values for the Windows policies, click the Save & exit  or Save & assign button at the top right corner of the screen.


11. When Save & exit  option is selected, a new policy will be created with a success toast message and added in the Policy list screen.


12. When Save & assign option is selected, Assign group screen as shown below will be displayed with the list of available groups.


13. The user can select one or more groups and by clicking the Assign button will assign the new policy to the selected groups with a toast message. 


View/Edit policy details


The details of an individual policy can be viewed/edited using the steps given below.

 

1. From the Policy List screen, click on the three vertical dots at the end of the policy row. 


2. A context menu will be displayed from which the 'View/edit details' option can be selected.


3. The view policy details screen will be displayed as shown below.



4. The top portion of the screen will display the details of the selected policy like Policy name, Description.


5. The bottom portion of the screen will display the current details of the selected policy with the 'Save & exit' button on the top in disabled state.


6. When the details of the policy are changed the 'Save & exit'  or 'Save & assign' are enabled and saved by clicking the options as shown in screen below.




Assign policy to group

A policy can be assigned to one or more group using the steps given below.


1. From the Policy List screen, click on the three vertical dots at the end of the policy row.

 

2. A context menu will be displayed, select the 'Assign to group' option.


3. Assign to group popup screen will be displayed as shown below.


4. Select one or more groups from the list and click on the Assign button.


5. The policy will be assigned to the selected groups with a success toast message.


Clone policy

The selected policy can be cloned and save as a new policy using the steps given below.


1. From the Policy List view screen, click on the three vertical dots at the end of the policy row.

 

2. A context menu will be displayed, select the 'Clone' option.


3. Clone policy popup screen will be displayed as shown below.



4. A new policy name can be entered and by clicking the Submit button, a new policy will be created and listed in the policy screen. 


Delete Policy

An existing policy can be deleted using the steps given below.


1. From the Policy List screen, click on the three vertical dots at the end of the policy row.

 

2. A context menu will be displayed, select the Delete option as shown below.



3. A confirmation message will be displayed as shown below. Click the Yes button, the selected policy will be deleted.



4. The Delete option will be enabled only when the policy is not assigned to any group. A policy with assigned group cannot be deleted and the Delete option will be displayed in the context menu with a tooltip as shown below.



Export Policy Details

The available policy details can be exported as an Excel file by following the steps given below. 


1. Click on the Download icon on the top of the Policy List screen.


2. A confirmation pop up with the selected policy count will be displayed as shown below.



3. Click on the Continue button. The policy details will be downloaded as an excel file in the local file path.


4. When the downloaded excel file is opened, the details as shown below will be available in the excel file.
